Sierra Leone's mortgage market is led by Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB), Rokel Commercial Bank, and UBA Sierra Leone, supervised by the Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL). The Leone was redenominated in 2022 (1 new SLE = 1,000 old SLL) to simplify accounting after years of high inflation. The Home Finance Company (HFC) Bank is the country's only specialist mortgage lender and partners with the Sierra Leone Housing Corporation (SALHOC) for social-housing programs targeting civil servants and diaspora returnees.
